Park City Mountain Resort undoubtedly has an important role as the host of several major Olympic events. But I was amazed to learn that those events will happen on only a small fraction of the resortís land area, leaving the rest of its terrainóa total of 96 percent--open for anyone to enjoy.

Specifically, Park City Mountain Resort will host the Olympic events at its Eagle Race Arena. The rest of the resort's pristine bowls, runs and slopes will be at hand to please every level of skier and snowboarder. Whatís more, the resort expects skiing and riding there should be better than ever - especially during these 17 days of the Games. Because of the myth that Olympic venues will be crowded, it's expected that the number of skiers and riders on the mountain will be light all season long.

And getting to the resort is easy. Skiers can simply park in the US 40 Park and Ride lot and be shuttled to the resort in minutes at no charge. The shuttle operates during the Games from 5:30 a.m. to 3 a.m.

The resortís runs include great slopes for beginners, intermediate and expert skiers. And over the past year, the resort has made many enhancements to improve the kind of skiing experience of its guests. Park City Mountain Resort is now linked to downtown Park City by way of the Town Bridge. Skiing or riding across the bridge allows direct on-snow access to the Main Street hub of Park City.

The resort also features a new Mountain Direct Card. The card provides free photo identification and allows guests to attach a personal credit card for providing the convenience of resort-wide cashless transactions. The Mountain Direct Card offers guaranteed daily lift ticket discounts and ongoing new benefits, including exclusive cardholder upgrades and privileges.

The Legacy Lodge, at the base of Park City Mountain Resort, opened in the summer of 2000. With architecture reminiscent of the mining history of Park City, multiple balconies, spacious rooms and spectacular views, the Legacy Lodge is an ideal location for company outings, corporate hospitality, social functions and special events. And the year-round lodge tailors menus and activities to meet the needs of any group.

Yes, there are definitely a number of reasons to visit Park City Mountain Resort during the Winter Games.
