This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

Rachel Frandsen’s long-time passion for art and home décor has resulted in her establishing Axiom Décor, one of the area’s most unique interior design firms.

Since 1994, Rachel has been in the business of creating elegant, comfortable living spaces as well as special gift baskets and one-of-a-kind presents for her clients. Located in a charming little house in Salt Lake’s Fort Union area, Axiom Décor showcases the comfort of a well-designed home with treasures arranged, as Rachel says, “in every nook and cranny.”

Rachel’s first experience in the interior design business happened 17 years ago. By chance, she got involved in decorating a home in a local home show. Her innovative designs attracted attention and earned her praise, which encouraged her to participate in more shows.

Then in the early ‘90s, a home decorating store approached Rachel about opening a franchise in the Salt Lake Valley. It seemed like a great opportunity. But after considering the quality of the merchandise the store offered, Rachel concluded it wasn’t up to her standards. Instead, she decided to run her own business where she could offer nothing but the best.

She began ordering furnishings for various clients, and from there, Rachel’s business began to grow. Soon, she was decorating and selling from her own shop.

I recently visited Rachel and enjoyed walking through the house that is Axiom Décor. I noticed her ability to design for a wide range of interests by the eclectic mix of furnishings displayed. I asked about the artistic finishes on some of the walls. Rachel told me that they are called glazing, marbelizing or graining. She said they are techniques she has learned from over 20 years of painting.

At Axiom Decor, Rachel offers everything from actual furnishings to a design plan for a complete remodel. She can walk through a client’s home and help them choose paint, flooring, tile and fabrics. In addition, she can create floral arrangements, wreaths and centerpieces. She also decorates for special occasions, and she does it all with the same skills, drive and passion that got her into Axiom Decor.

For Zions Bank, I’m Fred Ball. I’m speaking on business.
