After literally months of anticipation, BYU fans can finally revel in their team's Top 10 ranking in the New York Times. The Times' "Quad" section has the Cougars ranked 10th, as outlined in this profile published today.

However... I would expect a publication as venerable (and recently sensitive to detail) as the Times to get correct the reference to BYU's sponsoring institution. Not once, but twice, reference is made to the "Church of Latter-Day Saints." C'mon, Times, that's a "small-town paper" mistake. I wonder if a correction will appear in a later edition--the Times is pretty fanatical about printing corrections.

Other than the aforementioned misstep, the Times is thorough and complimentary in breaking down the Cougars, picking them to go 12-0 and "bust the BCS."

It was also funny to note that BYU defensive end Brett Denney is listed as "Bryant Denney" in the Times article. The writer clearly had SEC Football on the brain when he wrote that; the University of Alabama plays in Bryant-Denney Stadium.
