The Salt Lake City Marriott Downtown Hotel is holding a grand reopening ribbon cutting tomorrow, October 23rd at 11:30 a.m. The reopening follows a $10 million year-long renovation and upgrade.

The Salt Lake County Sanitation Division is holding its annual fall leaf pick-up through the end of next month. Call for more information at 562-6435.

The Utah Building and Construction Trades Council and the Utah Mechanical Contractors Association are offering a series of free safety classes for OSHA certification. The series begins Tuesday October 30th at the Union Labor Center, 2261 South Redwood Road. Call the Utah Building Trades to register at 1-800-491-2039.

Here’s an Olympic business fact: The Governor of New South Wales in Australia said that the Sydney Games were good for Australia because “the world came to understand that we are competent.”

The American Express Women & Business Conference is next week on October 30th. This is the 25th year of this conference. There will be great workshops and also the giving of the prestigious Athena Award and the Pathfinder Awards. The Pathfinder award is given to community leaders who have a history of support for women and women’s issues. One of this year’s Pathfinders is Steve Allnatt of American Express.
