This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

In my career, I’ve toured large manufacturing facilities, and I’ve seen huge equipment doing amazing jobs. One thing I always wondered was how that equipment was ever repaired, assuming it, like everything else, eventually wears out. I’m talking about equipment like hydroelectric turbines, steel mill rollers and large generator engines. Knowing that much of that equipment is custom made, it probably isn’t easy. But it also isn’t impossible.

Thanks to a company here in Utah, both large and small equipment can be duplicated and replaced. It’s called Prime Machine, and it’s one of the West’s largest and most diversified machine shops. The company’s expertise is rotating equipment. They specialize in turbines, compressors, pumps, fans and gearboxes, among other things.

The company combines integrated engineering, machining, fabrication and millwright services. Equipment services range from installation and predictive maintenance to complete overhauls. Prime Machine’s engineering goes from concept through design and build. The company’s machine shop employs trained craftspeople and state-of-the-art equipment in a world-class facility. Fabrication and welding complement the machine shop. Prime Machine has perfected its ability to weld specialized metals such as titanium, aluminum, bronze, cast iron, alloy steels and stainless steels.

The world’s industries can send their damaged equipment to Prime Machine’s facility in Salt Lake City. Or Prime Machine’s extensive experience and tooling have made it possible to send its experts to any location for specialized field machining.

Recently, Prime Machine has experienced a boom in its parts duplication services. The company uses computers and lasers to precisely measure and duplicate many complex parts.

In getting to know some of the people at Prime Machine, I learned that the company focuses on safety, quality, staying on schedule, value and service, even 24-hour service for emergency repairs. Those five principles combined with excellent work and a variety of machining services have made Prime Machine the success it is.

For Zions Bank, I’m Fred Ball. I’m speaking on business.
