First Security Corporation, the last remaining piece of the Eccles enterprises, was sold late last year in an historic merger with Wells Fargo. Spence will finish his career as a member of Wells Fargo’s Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Wells Fargo Intermountain Banking Region. Spence says he plans to continue in this responsibility until he reaches age 70. He also currently serves on 13 separate boards of various businesses, governmental, and civic organizations. He holds seven honorary doctorates and has been recognized with countless other awards.
