A final day of two-a-days for the Cougars today--10:00am and 5:00pm. As usual, I will be at the fully-padded morning session; look for my report and interviews in the noon hour.

In the initial camp itinerary, an "off day" was scheduled for Thursday, but with Bronco calling off practice last Thursday, I think this week's day off will be replaced with a full practice. I'll confirm with Bronco today...

As I've detailed before, The New York Times' blog "The Quad" has been counting down all 119 college football teams--one per day. Today, the Times is up to #12, and still no BYU. So, it's 11 or better for the Cougars, who are in the 15-17 neighborhood in most national polls.

I was privileged to be tabbed as the MC for Saturday night's "Big Blue Bash" at the Salt Lake City Sheraton, and the third annual event was the best "Bash" yet. I'm sure some of you were on hand, and if you're like me, you came away very impressed with the addresses of current Cougars Max Hall, Austin Collie and Coach Brandon Doman--not to mention former Cougars Setema Gali and Reno Mahe.

One of the highlights of the night was Coach Doman unveiling his new "look"--the result of a challenge he gave Max Hall at the start of camp. Let's just say Max won the challenge, and Doman's hair looks more like mine today. I may get Bronco or Brandon to talk about it today...

While BYU opens the season home to Northern Iowa, the Cougars' road game the following week is the one drawing most of the attention right now, since it appears to be the early "springboard" game to boost BYU's BCS hopes. As such, check out this link from the Seattle Times, assessing the Washington Huskies' personnel plans halfway through camp.

Meantime, the UCLA Bruins are a work in progress, as their Saturday scrimmage suggests.
