THIS IS LARRY MANKIN FROM THE SALT LAKE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WITH YOUR METRO BUSINESS REPORT.

R&O Construction was presented the Safety Shield Award for “Recognition of Excellence in Safeguarding Employees.” The Worker’s Compensation Fund of Utah made the presentation at their annual Safety Shield Awards luncheon. The presentation acknowledged that “R&O’s safety record is one of the best in the construction industry.”

Larkin Sunset Gardens is hosting a public Memorial Day service honoring veterans and active members of the military. The service begins at 10 a.m. next Monday, May 28th at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1700 East in Sandy.

Here’s an Olympic business fact: During the Atlanta games, 14 percent of workers telecommuted. During the Sydney Olympics, 9 percent of workers worked from home and 17 percent did not work at all during the games.

The Salt Shakers, the Chamber’s energetic ambassadors, are trying to contact all former Salt Shakers for a reunion June 15th and 16th. The Salt Shakers were formed 35 years ago and are the Chamber’s oldest committee. They are easily recognized by their white jackets and are most often seen around the Salt Lake Area helping businesses with ribbon cutting ceremonies. If you were a past Salt Shaker or are interested in a ribbon cutting for your event, call the Chamber at 328-5080 or see us on the web at saltlakechamber.org
