This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
The existence of music is wonderful. I might even say miraculous. Music is the only universal tongue. And Neil Breinholt in Price, Utah, has the opportunity to bring music into peoples lives everyday.
Breinholt Music has been a mainstay on Main Street in Price since 1985. The company actually started in Neil's home but problems with zoning and licensing prompted Neil to find the Main Street location. From this building, Neil does three times more business based on population than the national average for music retailers.
Neil had been in the construction business and had a job he enjoyed. He had always enjoyed music and had played and performed his entire life. He played the guitar, drums, piano and brass instruments in the school bands.
A gentleman in Carbonville had a small music business but was told by his doctor and his accountant that he should retire. He knew of Neil and of his love of music and asked if Neil would like to take over his little business. There was some real hesitancy in leaving the construction business, but after a few weeks Neil decided it might be good to work for himself and enjoy his music involvement full time.
The small store has an extensive inventory. I saw guitars, drum sets, keyboards, brass instruments, ukuleles. There was a section aimed at karioki enthusiasts and all types of sound amplifiers. Everything associated with music is available at Breinholt's.
Breinholt is also a contractor for sound reinforcement work and supplies microphones, P. A. systems and anything needed to provide dependable, quality sound.
Neil told me that people in rural areas want stores to be price competitive. He works very hard to get the best possible prices. He uses the Internet to buy and sell, and he keeps his overhead low by filling every role at his store. He buys, sells and manages every aspect of the business. He told me that his prices, selection and service bring great repeat business.
I agree with Neil that music is a great way to make a living. I think it was Carlisle who said, ""Music is well said to be the speech of angels."
For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
