(KSL News) -- A former West Valley police officer cleared in a shooting now faces drug charges. A federal grand jury indicted Steven C. Ward on one count of importing anabolic steroids.
Ward was linked to the shooting death of an unarmed man last July. Ward and another officer were originally accused of shooting Bounmy Ousa when he approached their patrol car. An investigation cleared both men, deeming they acted in self -defense.
Now, court documents say a private investigator found drug paraphernalia in Ward's garbage can. Police say the shooting and alleged steroid use are NOT connected.
A wrongful death lawsuit settled for $450 thousand.
