LONDON (AP) — Crystal Palace failed in its bid to secure back-to-back wins in the English Premier League and move further away from the relegation zone after being held to a 0-0 draw by 10-man Everton on Wednesday.
James McCarthy's dismissal early in the second half presented a fine opportunity to secure the three points that would almost certainly have meant the team's survival in the Premier League.
Though 16th in the Premier League, Palace looks likely to survive as it's 11 points clear of the relegation zone. However, it has difficult fixtures ahead against Arsenal and Manchester United.
Everton is safe but has had a mixed season. The draw against Palace owed much to goalkeeper Joel Robles, who denied Palace forward Jason Puncheon a clear chance in the second half.
