(KSL News) The Tooele County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 61-year-old Tooele woman.

Deputies say Jodean Davis' husband found his wife on their burning couch. He pulled her off the couch while their son extinguished the fire, and the two immediately began CPR.

Investigators believe Davis either fell asleep or passed out while smoking a cigarette on the couch. She was severely burned, and crews on the scene could not revive her.

Davis' relatives say she had been battling cancer, and it is unclear if she died before or after the fire. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
