LAS VEGAS (AP) — Highway Patrol officers in Nevada and California are joining forces to keep drivers safe on the heavily traveled Interstate 15 corridor. About 45,000 vehicles enter Nevada from California on I-15 each day, traveling a stretch of highway once considered among the deadliest in the nation. The two agencies will enhance their patrols beginning today and continuing for the next two weekends. Today, spring break ends for Nevada schools and begins for those in California.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Health officials say they've confirmed the first case of the Zika virus in Clark County. The Southern Nevada Health District says a man who had recently traveled to Guatemala tested positive for Zika. Most people who catch Zika only experience mild symptoms like fever, skin rash and muscle pain.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas Sands casino executives say they're serious about trying to build a $1.3 billion stadium at UNLV and attract an NFL team there. Economic analysts say the project could generate $46 million in new tax revenue each year even if no NFL team came to Las Vegas. Critics are concerned that the project would divert hotel room tax dollars away from an ongoing effort to expand the Las Vegas Convention Center.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Taxable room revenues at Washoe County hotels are up 17 percent through the first eight months of the fiscal year, compared to a year ago. The Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority says revenues through February were $27.1 million dollars ahead of the previous year. RSCVA Board Chairman Bob Lucy says it's the 20th consecutive month revenues have increased at hotels in Reno and Sparks and the north shore of Lake Tahoe.
