(KSL News) A motorcyclist was critically injured this evening in Sandy. It happened at 2170 E. Dimple Dell Road.
The man was riding a motorcycle when an SUV pulled out of a neighborhood onto Dimple Dell Road in front of him. The biker slammed into the side of the SUV.
He was wearing a helmet but still suffered serious head injuries from the impact.
Trees in the area may have made it difficult for the driver to see the oncoming motorcycle.
Lt. Jason Johnson, with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office, said, "She said she didn't see the motorcycle coming when she came out to make her turn, and that's where the impact occurred."
Witnesses say the motorcyclist may have just passed another car and may have been on the wrong side of the road when the accident happened.
The county's major accident investigation team is trying to piece together just what happened.
