CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Rashawn Thomas made 8 of 12 field goals on his way to 22 points and nine rebounds as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beat Abilene Christian 65-59 Tuesday night.

Jelanie Currie and Ehab Amin scored 11 apiece and Brandon Pye added 10 points for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (21-6, 12-3 Southland Conference). Hameed Ali finished with five steals, giving him 185 career steals — the most in school history. Pye, who hit 2 of 5 from behind the arc, moved into a tie atop the program's career list for made 3-pointers with 169.

Abilene Christian (12-16, 7-8) shot 50 percent from the field, including 6 of 11 from 3-point range, in the first half to take a 33-26 lead into the break and opened up an 11-point lead with 15:42 remaining.

A three-point play by Amin put the Islanders in front for good, 54-52, with 6:48 left.

Franklin and Austin Cooke led the Wildcats with 15 points apiece.
