WEST JORDAN, Utah (AP) — A 29-year-old man was killed at a Utah steel plant after part of the structure he was working on fell on him.

West Jordan police officer Scott List says the man had been cutting a 40-by-10-foot steel structure at SME Steel Contractors, Inc. in West Jordan. Part of the beam broke loose, crushing his neck and head.

List says fellow workers quickly removed the beam and performed CPR, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His name has not yet been released.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will investigate the incident.
