NEW YORK, Jul 27, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Critics were disappointed in Twyla Tharp's new musical "The Times Are A-Changin," based on the music of Bob Dylan so the show has been almost completely recast.
They said they were disappointed that her choreography had taken a back seat to the music, the New York Post reported Wednesday.
"I knew myself what needed to be done before the reviews came out," said Tharp in an interview with the Post. "And to do what I wanted to do, I knew the cast was going to have to change."
Tharp got rid off all but two of the original dancers, replacing them with her own dance company, many of whom were doing Tharp's other musical "Movin' Out" on Broadway and on the road while the Dylan show was in rehearsal.
"These are dancers I've developed and trained and worked with for years," said Tharp. "They have talents and abilities that always come through for me."
