FORT DODGE, Iowa (AP) — Bernie Sanders is trying to build on a burst of momentum for his presidential bid in Iowa with a four-stop bus tour in the state. His swing today comes as the Democratic race in Iowa tightens less than two weeks before the state's lead-off caucuses. Sanders appears to also have an edge over Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire, which votes second. The Democratic race has become increasingly heated in recent days. Clinton has accused the senator of flip-flopping on guns and also called his health care proposal expensive and unrealistic. Sanders has cast Clinton as being cozy with Wall Street.
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Some Twitter users have had to do without it this morning. Spotty outages knocked the social media site offline in Europe, and there have been some malfunctions reported in the United States as well -- but it's not clear just how widespread they were. Twitter, which has 320 million active users, tweeted that it was aware of the issue and was trying to fix it.
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A hearing is set today in Texas to consider whether a teenager known for using an "affluenza" defense violated his probation in a deadly drunken-driving wreck. The hearing in juvenile court is taking place even though Ethan Couch is still in Mexico. The 18-year-old was sentenced to 10 years' probation in Texas after killing four people in a 2013 wreck. Authorities say Couch and his mother fled to Mexico in December, after a video surfaced that appeared to show him at a party where people were drinking. Consuming alcohol would be a violation of his probation.
