MORRISTOWN, N.J. (AP) — Officials say a northern New Jersey council member died shortly after helping treat his 19-year-old daughter and another person who had been involved in a car crash.

Eskil "Scott" Danielson, a member of the Andover Borough Council and an emergency services unit, was dispatched to a crash Saturday afternoon along state Route 206 on the border of Byram Township and Andover Borough.

Authorities say the 49-year-old father learned that his daughter Alycia was involved in the crash and helped treat her and the occupant of the other vehicle.

Danielson suffered a massive heart attack and collapsed while waiting at a Newton hospital to check on his daughter. He was airlifted to a Morristown hospital Saturday night where he was pronounced dead.

Officials say Alycia Danielson has been discharged from the hospital.
