PHOENIX (AP) — Jury selection begins today at a trial that will examine allegations that polygamous towns on the Arizona-Utah line have discriminated against people who aren't part of the communities' dominant religious sect. Colorado City, Arizona, and Hildale, Utah, are accused of denying housing, water services and police protection to nonbelievers. Police officers are accused of assisting sect leader Warren Jeffs while he was a fugitive. The towns are accused of serving as an arm of the FLDS Church.

CEDAR FORT, Utah (AP) — Authorities say an Arizona couple is dead after their twin-engine jet crashed Monday in Utah. Utah County Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Spencer Cannon identified the dead as Donald Baker and his wife Dawn Elizabeth Hunter of Tucson. Baker was the pilot and owner of the Cessna Citation 525. The plane went down west of Provo yesterday.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Kemba Walker scored a franchise-record 52 points and the Charlotte Hornets won in double overtime, beating the Utah Jazz 124-119 yesterday. Walker made 16 of 34 shots from the field, including 6 of 11 3-points. He was 14 of 15 on free throws. Gordon Hayward scored 36 points and Trey Burke added 25.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State has suspended Jarmal Reid at least four games for tripping a referee during Sunday night's loss at Utah. Coach Wayne Tinkle announced the suspension yesterday. Reid also issued a statement apologizing for his actions.
