MIDLAND, Mich. (AP) — Michigan state Rep. Gary Glenn says he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The Republican from Midland says in a statement Tuesday that he's been cleared to continue his legislative duties in Lansing without interruption or limitation.

Glenn says the diagnosis was made Friday night at a Midland hospital following an MRI that had been expected to identify the source of nerve pain in his right leg. He says he wanted voters to know and also made his diagnosis public because he believes in the power of prayer.

Glenn says his doctors have indicated the cancer is treatable.
