BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The family of an Idaho pastor who was freed after being held in an Iranian prison is planning to reunite with him on the East Coast. Saeed Abedini, who has been detained in Iran since 2012, was among four Americans freed over the weekend as part of a prisoner swap. The Boise man was detained for compromising national security.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Officials with the Idaho Health and Welfare Department are asking state budget writers for a $26.3 million increase in funding. The 3.9 percent increase from the 2016 fiscal year budget will not fund the newly proposed health care initiative aimed at providing health care to 78,000 low-income Idahoans who don't qualify for Medicaid. Instead, officials are proposing using cigarette and tobacco taxes to fund the new program.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho voters seeking to change their political party affiliation before this year's presidential primary election would be up against a tight deadline under new legislation. The bill, approved by the Senate State Affairs Committee, would cut off party affiliation changes on the second Friday of February. The current deadline is March 12. Lawmakers approved moving up the presidential primary last year to March 8.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho health officials say four children are receiving treatment for severe forms of epilepsy with an experimental non-psychoactive drug derived from marijuana plants. The newly created Expanded Access Program was established by Gov. C. L. "Butch" Otter last year through executive order. It treats children suffering from severe epileptic seizures with the new drug — also known as Epidiolex. Health officials say another 18 children are scheduled to be screened for the program.
