CLEVELAND (AP) — Rob Edwards scored 24 points and Cleveland State cruised past Illinois-Chicago 70-53 Monday night.
Edwards made 7 of 14 from the field, including four 3-pointers, grabbed six rebounds and had four assists. Andre Yates added 11 points for the Vikings (7-13, 2-5 Horizon).
Dikembe Dixson led Illinois-Chicago (2-15, 0-6) with 15 points. Tai Odiase scored 11 points with 11 rebounds and six blocked shots. The Flames were 11 of 28 (39.3 percent) from the foul line.
Cleveland State finished the first half with a 12-5 run — including a 3-pointer by Yates with three seconds left — and led 32-22 at intermission. Edwards' 3 with 8:56 to go pushed the lead over 20 points, at 57-35.
UIC, which began Division I play in 1981, remains one win shy of 500 in program history.
