RABAT, Morocco (AP) — Morocco's Interior Ministry says that police have arrested a Belgian man of Moroccan descent who had a "direct relationship" to the attackers who killed 130 people around Paris on Nov. 13. The ministry says in a statement that the man was arrested today near Casablanca, after traveling through Turkey, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. The statement didn't identify the suspect or explain his suspected relationship to the attackers. Several of the Paris attackers had Moroccan origins.

PARIS (AP) — A doctor at the French hospital where a volunteer in an experimental drug test died says the health of five others who were hospitalized last week is improving and one has returned home. The test involved 90 previously-healthy volunteers. Doctors say no problems were found in 18 other volunteers who've been checked so far. The drug to ease pain and anxiety, among other things, was in the first phase of testing.

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (AP) — Court records show the suspect the fatal shooting of an Ohio police officer has a lengthy criminal record -- and in one case tried to claim he was legally insane. Herschel Jones is being held in connection with the slaying last night of Danville Officer Thomas Cottrell. Cottrell's body was found behind the village's municipal building after a woman reported that Jones, her ex-boyfriend, had weapons and was looking to kill an officer.

CINCINNATI (AP) — The family of a man who was shot and killed by a University of Cincinnati police officer after he was pulled over for not having a front license plate has reached a $5.3 million settlement with the school. The deal gives the family of Samuel DuBose $4.85 million and promises free undergraduate tuition for his 12 children. The agreement also provides for a memorial commemorating DuBose and an apology from the university. Officer Ray Tensing has been charged with murder in DuBose's death. He has pleaded not guilty, and his lawyer says he was afraid he'd be dragged under the car as DuBose tried to drive away.

CHICAGO (AP) — Parts of Illinois are seeing temperatures in the single digits today for a second day. And the falling temperatures have been accompanied by snow in parts of Michigan, where up to 16 inches of snow fell in 24 hours. The sub-freezing temperatures are moving eastward.
