MARION, Ohio (AP) — One of Ohio's U.S. senators will be talking about the drug addiction epidemic in one of the state's hardest hit cities.
Republican Sen. Rob Portman on Monday plans to meet with residents in Marion, about 50 miles north of Columbus, who are recovering or who have lost a loved one to an addiction to heroin or prescription pain pills.
The roundtable discussion also will include community leaders who are members of the Marion County Opiate Task. Residents from Jody's House, a residential house for women recovering from addiction, will be sharing their stories.
Last spring, a batch of heroin laced with fentanyl sent 30 overdose victims to the hospital and two to the morgue in a 12-day stretch in Marion.
