STATELINE, Nev. (AP) — A nonprofit group formed five years ago to help to diversify Lake Tahoe's economy says the area's working class neighborhoods are suffering during an uneven economic recovery. The Tahoe Prosperity Center says the primary problems are under-paying jobs, out-of-reach housing costs and aging infrastructure.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Reno church is joining a growing movement among places of worship offering sanctuary to immigrants living in the U.S. illegally. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Northern Nevada became the first church in the state earlier this month to allow an immigrant to stay there. Immigration and Customs Enforcement discourages agents from entering "sensitive" locations such as churches and schools, according to a 2011 memo.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The chief operating officer of Allegiant Air is resigning. KTNV-TV reports that 52-year-old Steve Harfts is leaving after serving in the position for about a year. His resignation follows questions about the airline's safety record and several incidents involving emergency landings and mechanical issues. The Las Vegas-based airline says in a statement that the leadership change will allow the airline to refocus on operational needs.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — More than 2,000 households in Last Vegas briefly lost power early yesterday after a car crashed into a utility pole. KTNV-TV reports that crews were able to restore the power about an hour later. Police did not release any details about what caused the crash or if the driver was injured.
