DUETTE, Fla. (AP) — Florida officials say death and property damage resulted from severe storms in central Florida, including two possible tornadoes. Officials say two adults died and four children were injured. Sarasota County officials report damage to multiple homes near Siesta Key. At least one home was destroyed and a woman had to be pulled from the wreckage by first responders. Other damage reports include roofs being blown off homes.

VIENNA (AP) — The nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers in now in force. The U.N. nuclear agency has certified Iran's compliance with certain requirements, which triggered the lifting of sanctions on Tehran. In a separate matter, four Americans and seven Iranians got tickets to freedom in a prisoner swap. A senior U.S. official says the plane carrying the Americans has left Tehran. The official isn't saying whether all four Americans were on the plane, just that those "who wished to depart Iran have left."

BEIRUT (AP) — The Islamic State group is being accused of slaughtering 300 people, mostly women, children and the elderly, in a city in eastern Syria (Deir el-Zour) where daylong attacks saw the extremists make significant advances. Opposition activists say many of the victims were Syrian soldiers and pro-government militiamen and their families. The extremist group controls large parts of Syria and Iraq.

BAGHDAD (AP) — The United Nations has released a report outlining the massive destruction from the ongoing battle for the Iraqi city of Ramadi. The report says more than 4,500 buildings have been damaged or destroyed. The Islamic State group overran Ramadi, capital of Anbar province, in May. Last month government forces retook parts of the city.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Vandenberg Air Force Base, northwest of Los Angeles, is getting set for a satellite launch this morning by SpaceX. The U.S.-European satellite is the latest in a series designed to detect and measure ocean phenomena like El Nino. In addition, the private launch firm will again try to soft-land its discarded first stage on a floating barge. The launch window will be open for about 30 seconds.
