Incarnate Word holds off SE Louisiana for 75-71 win

HAMMOND, La. (AP) — Jontrell Walker scored 19 points and Mitchell Badillo added 15 as Incarnate Word held off Southeastern Louisiana for a 75-71 win in Southland Conference action on Saturday.

Walker was 7 of 10 from the floor and made three treys. Badillo made 6 of 8 field goals and dished out five assists for Incarnate Word (8-7, 3-1) which has won three straight for the first time this season. Derail Green and Kyle Hittle added 12 apiece for the Cardinals.

Trailing 43-42 early in the second period, Hittle made a layup and Walker followed with a 3-pointer to start a 20-8 run to give Incarnate Word a 62-51 lead at the 8:50 mark.

Zay Jackson, who finished with 23, had six points in the final 3:25 as Southeastern Louisiana (2-15, 0-4) closed to 73-71 with 1:19 left. Walker and Hittle made the needed free throws down the stretch to seal it.
