NEW YORK (AP) — Tyreek Jewell scored a career-high 23 points, Chris Hooper added 19 with seven rebounds, and St. Francis Brooklyn cruised past Sacred Heart 85-67 Saturday.
Jewell made four 3-pointers and added five assists for St. Francis (7-12, 3-3 Northeast Conference), which won for the third time in four games. Yunus Hopkinson also hit from deep four times and finished with 18 points.
Sacred Heart (3-14, 2-4) scored first on a free throw from Cane Broome but was subsequently outscored 19-3 as the Terriers took control early and dominated the first half, leading 41-18 at the break.
Broome led the Pioneers with 18 points, Quincy McKnight added 16 and Matej Buovac 11.
Sacred Heart won the second half 49-44 but never got within striking distance.
St. Francis finished with 19 assists on 27 made field goals and shot 55.1 percent.
