STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — A devastating collapse in its last game, and the memory of a tough loss to their intra-state rivals last season both combined to highly motivate Oklahoma State on Saturday.
Brittney Martin scored 19 points, surpassing 1,500 for her career, and added 14 rebounds to lead the Cowgirls to a dominating 73-42 victory over No. 14 Oklahoma.
Kaylee Jensen added 17 points - 15 in the second half - for Oklahoma State (13-4, 3-3 Big 12), which lost its previous contest, 47-44, at Kansas State after missing 14 consecutive shots over the final 5:53.
"I'm very proud of our group and what they did on the floor today," said OSU coach Jim Littell. "It was a total team win, we had a lot of people step up. I'm very proud of our defensive effort. At K-State the other night, they made plays at the end, but we were playing not to lose instead of playing to win, and I thought today, we played to win."
It was the biggest win for OSU in the rivalry, called "Bedlam," since an 88-57 road triumph on Jan. 29, 1997.
"(We were motivated by) how the last game went, and how the last game against OU went last year," Jensen said of the Sooners' 66-56 win here last March. "We just wanted to avenge that loss, so we really came out with a lot of fire in our pants today. It was fun."
Mandy Manning led Oklahoma (12-4, 3-2) with 13 points and six rebounds. The Sooners, who entered the contest averaging 16.6 turnovers per game, shot just 25.5 percent from the floor (12 for 47) and committed a season-high 26 turnovers - one game after turning the ball over 25 times in a 68-58 win over Kansas State.
"We were miserable in pretty much every phase of the game. There wasn't anything we did well," said OU coach Sherri Coale. "There's not a lot of disguising what happened. They were tougher, they were stronger, they had more energy, they had more confidence. They beat us in every single phase of the game, start to finish."
Leading 32-17 at halftime, Oklahoma State continued to control the game early in the third quarter, using an 11-2 run to push its lead to 43-19 after Karli Wheeler's fast break layup with 3:35 elapsed.
Jensen's two free throws with 49 seconds left in the third increased the Cowgirl lead to 28 at 52-24, and OSU carried a commanding 53-26 advantage into the fourth. Oklahoma scored the first six points of the final quarter to pull to within 21 points, but never got any closer the rest of the way.
"We guarded pretty well," said Littell, whose team has limited six of its last seven opponents under 50 points. "To hold Oklahoma to 42, I'm very proud of our defensive effort. We did a good job today of using our defense to create some offense, and I thought we did a good job of getting back in transition."

TIP INS
Oklahoma: Senior forward Kaylon Williams, who leads OU in scoring at 14.6 points, scored just five points and had three turnovers in just 16 minutes of action. It was the first game this season Williams failed to reach double figures. Dating back to last season, she'd scored at least 10 in 17 straight contests.
Oklahoma State: Besides becoming the 11th Cowgirl to surpass the 1,500-point plateau, senior guard Brittney Martin moved up several other OSU career lists. Her 14 rebounds give her 955, moving her past Shaunte Smith into fourth place on the Cowgirl career list, while her two blocked shots edged her past Liz Donohoe into 10th with 74.
QUOTE OF THE NIGHT
"Just a special talent and she's grown into a great leader for this team. Our kids respect her, she's become a very good practice player, but those are staggering numbers in this conference — 1500 points, 900 rebounds, and she's got a high total in steals (307, second in OSU history), as well, so (she's a) complete player. And I thought she did a great job today defensively." - OSU coach Jim Littell, on Brittney Martin.
