DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) — Jack Gibbs scored a career-high 43 points and Davidson beat Massachusetts 86-74 on Saturday.
Gibbs was 12 of 26 from the field, including four 3-pointers, and made 15 of 16 free throws while adding eight assists. Gibbs, coming in ranked fourth in the nation at 24.4 points per game, has reached 40 points three times this season and 30 six times.
Peyton Aldridge had 14 points and 10 rebounds for his second double-double, Rusty Reigel 10 points and Nathan Ekwu 10 rebounds for the Wildcats (11-5, 3-2 Atlantic-10).
Trey Davis made a program-tying eight 3-pointers on 16 attempts for 30 points along with seven assists to lead the Minutemen (9-8, 2-3). Jabarie Hinds added 16 points and Donte Clark 14.
UMass led 69-67 with four minutes left after a Clark 3-pointer. But Gibbs made a 3-pointer and added 11 free throws in a game-ending 19-5 run.
