BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) — A legal challenge has been filed to block West Virginia University from Moving WVU Tech from Montgomery to Beckley.

The lawsuit filed in Kanawha County also is pressing the university's governing board to fully implement the so-called WVU Tech Revitalization Project, according to media reports.

The lawsuit alleges WVU's board refused to follow legislative mandates to revitalize the campus and ignored similar recommendations from Higher Education Policy chancellors.

The attorney filing the suit, Carl Roncaglione, argues that the Board of Governors has breached its legal obligation to WVU Tech.

The lawsuit also contends WVU has no authority to relocate the university to Beckley because it violates a legal mandate that its headquarters remain in Montgomery.
