SOUTHAMPTON, England (AP) — Striker Charlie Austin has moved to Premier League team Southampton from second-tier Queens Park Rangers in a deal reportedly worth 4 million pounds ($5.7 million).
The 26-year-old Austin scored 18 goals last season but QPR was still relegated from the top flight.
Southampton says Austin, who was called up by England for the first time at the end of last season, has agreed a 4 1/2-year deal at the south-coast club.
Austin says "as soon as Southampton showed an interest, that was the one club I wanted to go to."
Austin scored 48 goals in 89 appearances for QPR.
