HOUSTON (AP) — Kyrie (KY'-ree) Irving scored 23 points and the Cavs led by as many as 20 in the second half of a 91-77 silencing of the Rockets in Houston. LeBron James contributed 19 points, seven rebounds and seven assists for the Cavaliers, who bounced back from Thursday's loss at San Antonio and won for the ninth time in 10 games. The Rockets shot just 35 percent and scored a season low to end their season-best, five-game winning streak.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Russell Westbrook recorded his fourth triple-double of the season and ninth of his career, delivering 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in just three quarters as the Oklahoma City Thunder ripped the Minnesota Timberwolves 113-93. Westbrook was able to sit out the final period with Oklahoma City ahead by 18 entering the quarter. Kevin Durant finished with 21 points and Dion Waiters scored 20 in the Thunder's third straight win.
TORONTO (AP) — Patrick Kane notched his first career regular-season hat trick and the Chicago Blackhawks picked up their 10th straight win by downing the Maple Leafs 4-1 in Toronto. Kane scored twice in a 4:06 span late in the second period and completed the hat trick with an empty-netter. The outcome puts the Blackhawks atop the NHL's Western Conference and Central Division races, two points ahead of Dallas.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Stars lost their share of the NHL's Western Conference lead by surrendering four goals in the first 16 minutes of a 4-2 setback against the Ducks in Anaheim. Jakob Silfverberg and Sami Vatanen (VAH'-tah-nehn) scored 31 seconds apart in the first four minutes before Hampus Lindholm and Corey Perry tallied in a 33-second span to put the Ducks ahead 4-0. The Stars have dropped two straight and five of their last six.
HONOLULU (AP) — Brandt Snedeker is the leader at the midway point of the PGA's Sony Open in Honolulu. Snedeker followed Thursday's 63 with a 5-under 65 for a 12-under total and a one-shot edge over Kevin Kisner. Zach Johnson, Luke Donald, Zac Blair and Chez Reavie are two strokes back.
