HOBART, Australia (AP) — Alize Cornet ended Eugenie Bouchard's strong run at the Hobart International with a 6-1, 6-2 win over the Canadian in the final on Saturday.
Cornet won her fifth WTA title and first since April 2014 in her third attempt at the Hobart International, one of the Australian Open Series warmup tournaments.
It was Bouchard's best performance since a lengthy layoff due to a concussion she sustained in a dressing room fall at last year's U.S. Open.
On Saturday, she had some difficulty in the breezy conditions, serving five double faults.
Bouchard said "it was a tough one for me ... I just wasn't on top of my game."
Bouchard plays Aleksandra Krunic in the first round of the Australian Open, and Cornet will meet Bojana Jovanovski.
