ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Swift Lady won the $58,000 feature for 2-year-old fillies by 2 1/2 lengths in her turf debut at 22-1 odds for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert on Friday at Santa Anita.
Ridden by Martin Garcia, Swift Lady led all the way in running 6 1/2 furlongs on the downhill course in 1:14.70 and paid $46.80, $14.80 and $11.
Ireland-bred Jeremy's Legacy returned $4.60 and $3 as the 2-1 favorite. Optimism and Hope, also bred in Ireland, was another 1 1/2 lengths back in third and paid $5.80 to show.
The victory, worth $34,800, increased Swift Lady's career earnings to $75,800, with two wins in three starts.
