CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) — Demetrius McReynolds scored a career-high 27 points with 10 rebounds and Eastern Illinois knocked off Eastern Kentucky 97-85 Thursday night.

McReynolds was 9 of 15 from the field with five 3-pointers on eight attempts for the Panthers (5-12, 2-3 Ohio Valley). Cornell Johnston scored 13 points with 10 assists, A.J. Riley added 13 points, and Casey Teson had 12. Eastern Illinois shot 58.6 percent overall and made 11 of 22 beyond the arc.

Nick Mayo led Eastern Kentucky (11-8, 2-2) with 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting. Paul Jackson scored 14 points with seven assists, Jaylen Babb-Harrison had 13 points and Jarelle Reischel added 10 for the Colonels.

Eastern Kentucky scored the first seven points of the game, but Eastern Illinois quickly erased the deficit, going ahead — for good — on Teson's 3-pointer with 7:58 to go in the first half.

Riley's jumper with 7:34 remaining put Eastern Illinois up 82-65.
