CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Keyona Hayes scored 22 points and Adrienne Motley had 18 to lead No. 21 Miami to a 71-60 win over Wake Forest on Thursday night.
Jessica Thomas added 12 points for the Hurricanes (16-2, 4-1 ACC), who made 11 of 13 free throws in the second half and 15 of 18 for the game.
Milan Quinn had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Demon Deacons (9-8, 0-4) and Amber Campbell had 13 points. Wake Forest was 14 of 23 from the line.
Wake Forest scored the first eight points of the third quarter, four by Elisa Penna, to tie the game but Motley had five points as Miami answered with a 9-0 run. Motley had the last basket in the third quarter and Zada Williams the first of the fourth to put the Hurricanes up 55-44 and the Demon Deacons never got closer than seven.
