NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Seven Republicans who hope to be the next president are debating in South Carolina. Ted Cruz accused the New York Times of publishing a "hit piece" against him for reporting he failed to disclose on federal campaign fundraising reports some $1 million in loans used to help finance his 2012 Senate run. He also dismissed Donald Trump's questions about his eligibility to run because he was born in Canada. Rival Marco Rubio called a heated exchange between Trump and Cruz an episode of Court TV.

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — According to Indonesian TV, police have arrested three men on suspicion of links to Thursday's terror attack in downtown Jakarta. The attack left seven people dead, five of them assailants who targeted a Starbucks and a police traffic booth.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration will announce a moratorium tomorrow on any major new coal leases on federal lands. It will first complete a comprehensive review of whether the fees charged to mining companies provide a fair return to taxpayers. The companies will continue to mine the large amount of coal reserves already under lease.

TOKYO (AP) — Rescue officials say an overnight tour bus on its way to a ski resort in central Japan slid down the mountainside, killing at least 14 passengers and injuring 27 others. The bus was carrying 41 people, including two drivers who were taking turns, when it crashed in the early hours Friday near the resort town of Karuizawa.

EDMOND, Okla. (AP) — Angry residents in the Oklahoma City suburb of Edmond have given an earful to policymakers for not taking action sooner to restrict oil and gas wastewater injection wells linked to a dramatic rise in earthquakes. There was a 4.3-magnitude quake on Dec. 29 and a 4.2 temblor days later.
