WASHINGTON (AP) — John Papale scored 15 points and Eric Fanning finished with 14 to lead Boston past American 61-50 Wednesday night.

Nathan Dieudonne collected 10 rebounds and scored eight points with three blocked shots for the Terriers (9-9, 2-3 Patriot).

With a five-point lead at the half, Boston used a quick 7-2 run after Papale hit 3 to make the score 39-29 with 17:35 remaining. Blaise Mbargorba made 1 of 2 free throws, scored a layup before Papale made two free throws to extend the lead to 46-33.

James Washington made a layup and hit a 3 in consecutive possessions for the Eagles to cut the deficit to 48-41 with 6:51 to play but American couldn't get closer.

Washington scored 15 points for American (2-14, 0-5) and Andrija Matic added 10.

Both teams collected the same number of rebounds (35), the same number on the offensive end (10) and each had six steals.
