CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada regulators will vote today on whether to suspend controversial new rates for rooftop solar power customers. The Public Utilities Commission will consider requests from solar company groups and the state consumer advocate to put a stay on the rate hike that took effect Jan. 1.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — An American Airlines flight from Los Angeles to New York City was diverted to Las Vegas after the crew reported smelling smoke in the cockpit. The Las Vegas Sun reports that Fight 256 landed safely at McCarran International Airport yesterday afternoon. No fire or smoke was found after the plane landed.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Authorities have called off the search for two fishermen who went missing near Reno on New Year's Day. Pyramid Lake Fire and Rescue emergency response coordinator Don Pelt identified the missing men as 38-year-old Ryan Osberg and 31-year-old Robert Glennon, both California residents.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt says the Washoe County School Board broke the state's Open Meeting Law when it attempted to hire a new school superintendent last March. Laxalt and the district say they've reached a settlement agreement that suspends a $500 civil fine as long as the panel doesn't violate the law again for a year.
