WASHINGTON (AP) — If the eventual Republican nominee wants Nikki Haley as a running mate, she's ready to talk about it. The South Carolina governor -- who delivered her party's response to the State of the Union address last night -- tells NBC's Today show that it would be "a big decision," and "a family decision." But she adds, "Absolutely, I would sit down and talk." Haley also says her message denouncing the "angriest voices" in politics was directed at Republican front-runner Donald Trump as well as other members of the party and the media.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul has asked party leaders to include him in tomorrow's televised debate. The Fox Business Network did not include Paul because an average of recent polling in Iowa and New Hampshire did not have him in the top five. But a poll today from the Des Moines Register and Bloomberg Politics has Paul in fifth place in Iowa with the support of 5 percent of likely caucus goers. Paul does qualify for a debate earlier in the day, but has said he would skip it.

PARIS (AP) — An official in the French Alps says the ski trail where a deadly avalanche hit a school group today was so risky, it had been closed since the start of the ski season last month. The regional official says the leader of the school group had "taken the initiative" to lead the teenagers onto the trail. Authorities say two of the students and a Ukrainian skier were killed. And dozens of rescue workers with sniffer dogs have been deployed.

NEW YORK (AP) — New York City police say they're looking for video evidence on three cellphones seized from teen boys suspected of raping an 18-year-old Brooklyn woman. The search comes after defense attorneys revealed the existence of a video clip they said shows a partially undressed woman smiling and laughing during her nighttime encounter with five teens in a public park. Police say the woman was sexually assaulted.

BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) — Sportscaster Jim Simpson has died at the age of 88. ESPN says he died in Arizona today after a short illness. Simpson worked for all of the major broadcast networks, calling 14 Olympics, 16 Major League Baseball All-Star games, six Super Bowls and six World Series for TV or radio.
