CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Browns have reportedly found a new coach. A person familiar with the decision says the team is hiring Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson to replace the fired Mike Pettine (PET'-ihn). Jackson, who will become the team's eighth coach since 1999, is appealing to the Browns because he has been an NFL head coach before, works well with quarterbacks and has knowledge of the AFC North.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Former NFL running back Lawrence Phillips has been found dead in his prison cell in Sacramento, California. Officials say guards found the 40-year-old unresponsive in his cell. He had been in segregation since April 2013 after he was suspected of killing his cellmate.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Clippers have won their last nine games and tonight go for No. 10 with a home game against Miami. Despite all their success, the Clippers have not been able to gain ground on Golden State as the Warriors have won their last seven games.

MIAMI (AP) — The Miami Marlins have come to terms on a one-year contract with free agent pitcher Edwin Jackson. The veteran right-hander made 47 relief appearances for the Cubs and Braves last season and has a career record of 88-107 with 262 saves.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Catcher Wilson Ramos and the Washington Nationals have avoided salary arbitration by agreeing to a contract. Last season he hit .229 in a career-high 475 at-bats, with 15 homers, 68 RBIs and 101 strikeouts.
