TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) — Munson Healthcare has received $3 million to expand outpatient heart services in the northern Lower Peninsula communities of Traverse City and Grayling.
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/1mY15Zj ) the donation came from the Maxon Foundation, which was founded by the late Glenway Maxon Jr. to improve access to health care services.
Munson Healthcare President and CEO Ed Ness says Maxon was a patient at Munson. Ness says the funding "will go a long way in providing quality heart care for Northern Michigan residents."
Munson will use the funds to expand its cardiology practice, Traverse Heart and Vascular. Testing equipment will be consolidated, along with outpatient programs now in the hospital. Lab space also will be created. A cardiology clinic also is planned in Grayling.
