WASHBURN, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota Highway Patrol is bringing its "Trooper on a Bus" campaign to the Washburn area.

The program aims to boost safety around school buses. Troopers riding on buses observe traffic violations that occur around the buses and radio the information to officers in squad cars who make traffic stops.

Failing to stop for a school bus can result in a $100 fine for both the driver and the registered owner of the vehicle.

The Washburn campaign was scheduled Wednesday.
