NEW YORK (AP) — Carmelo Anthony has left the Knicks' game against Boston early in the third quarter with a sprained right ankle and won't return.

Anthony was hurt late in the first half when he appeared to roll his ankle after running into a referee while heading up the court. He started the second half but lasted just 20 seconds before leaving again.

The Knicks said X-rays were negative.

Anthony scored 17 points, 12 in the first quarter.
