HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — Several streets on the University of Southern Mississippi campus are reopened after being briefly closed when a sink hole formed.
The Hattiesburg American reports (http://hatne.ws/1OpwTg9 ) the 3-foot-by-4-foot sinkhole appeared Tuesday in the parking lot between Osceola McCarty Hall and Scianna Hall. Campus officials say the sink hole was caused by a sewer line collapse.
It was determined the damage does not extend into nearby streets.
Eagle Walk Drive has been reopened from the West Fourth Street entrance to the south end of M.M. Roberts Stadium, as has a portion of Ray Guy Way between the Jim and Thomas Duff Athletic Center and Joe P. Park Practice Field.
University officials say there is no visible damage to buildings or other property in the area.
