SOUTH SALT LAKE — A woman died Tuesday after allegedly walking in front of moving semitrailer on I-15.

Utah Highway Patrol troopers were investigating whether the injury was the result of the second suicide attempt on the freeway by different women in two days.

About 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, a woman walked onto the freeway into the path of a truck near 3000 South, said UHP Lt. Jeff Nigbur. She was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital. No information about her identity was released Tuesday.

The incident comes just a day after a woman jumped from an overpass at the Spaghetti Bowl where, I-15, I-80 and the I-15 collector converge. The woman fell approximately 35 feet before hitting the collector, according to the UHP.

Witnesses who saw Tuesday's crash were traumatized, Nigbur said. He encouraged those having suicidal thoughts to seek treatment.

"If you're having these thoughts, please go get help. Nobody needs to be involved in this. Nobody needs to see this," he said.
