LANGHORNE, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania high school basketball coach who physically confronted a referee during a game has returned to his teaching job, but remains suspended as a coach.
The Neshaminy School District says in a statement Tuesday that Jerry Devine is back teaching special education at Neshaminy High School, effective immediately.
The district says no other information will be released since it's an ongoing personnel matter.
Videos showed Devine confronting a referee Jan. 5 after he disagreed with a foul call.
As Devine charged onto the court, another referee approached him and the coach appeared to head-butt the ref, knocking him to the floor. Another video at a different angle seemed to show the incident as a chest bump.
Devine was ejected from the game.
Devine's home phone rang unanswered Tuesday morning.
