NORTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. (AP) — A New Jersey woman billed as America's oldest teacher is still working.
Agnes Zhelesnik is celebrating her 102nd birthday on Tuesday, working 35 hours a week teaching pre-kindergarten to fifth-grade students at the private Sundance School in North Plainfield how to cook and sew.
The Watchung resident began working as a teacher when she was 81.
She tells the Courier News of Bridgewater (mycj.co/1IZNYkf) she's going to stay as long as she can, making children happy.
Principal Benjamin Fox says Zhelesnik is an icon who makes everybody smile and is the granny of the school's family.
